You can now search all of Facebooks 2 trillion public posts

Facebook has just announced a major improvement to its search functionality. Instead of only being able to view posts and other information from friends and family, you can now search from the more than 2 trillion public posts on the social network.

The more personalized search experience is evident when you start typing in the search box on the iOS app. While typing, Facebook will highlight breaking news and popular stories so you can quickly and easily take a look at that information.

Users can also see the most recent and relevant public posts from their friends. You can also view, and quickly dive into, public conversations regarding an interesting link or breaking news.

If youre worried that all public posts are now searchable, there is something you can do. Facebook does allow users to retroactively change who can see their previous posts. For more information on how to do that, visit this how-to guide.

The Facebook app is universal and designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now for free. Along with the iOS app, the new search features are also available on the social networks Web site now.

Earlier this week, Facebook announced that its Instant Articles features is now accessible to all iPhone users. In your News Feed, any article with a lightning bolt in the top right corner is an Instant Article. Facebook says that all stories load 10 times faster than a standard mobile Web article.

Instant Articles also offer a more immersive experience for readers.
