Late Night ‘Motor Noises’ Reportedly Heard From Apple’s Sunnyvale Testing Facility

Late night “motor noises” have been reported coming from Apple’s top-secret Sunnyvale, CA automotive testing facility. A resident who lives near the facility filed a complaint with city officials last year over the noises emitting from the building in the late night hours.

Late Night 'Motor Noises' Reportedly Heard From Apple's Sunnyvale Testing Facility

Major renovations at the Apple-occupied site have been in the works, including the addition of an “auto work area” and a “repair garage,” AppleInsider was first to reveal last March.

“(Do) there have to (be) motor noises at 11:00 p.m. at night like last night?” the resident wrote in their complaint. “Even with the windows closed I could still hear it.” (So, motor noises… I guess the project isn’t for an electric vehicle, then? – Ed.)

Apple has gone to great lengths to conceal the goings on at the facility, which is made up of seven buildings, amounting to nearly 300,000 square feet, located in a large office facility in the city of Sunnyvale. One of the buildings is home to a mysterious firm named SixtyEight Research, believed to be a shell corporation used by Apple.

The Sunnyvale facility, just minutes away from Apple’s main 1 Infinite Loop headquarters, has reportedly been the destination for a number of shipments related to Apple’s “Project Titan” automotive effort.

At this point, it is unknown if the site is attached to a project related to the company’s well-known CarPlay platform, or a full-fledged automotive project, such as the much-rumored “Apple Car” project. The true nature of the goings on at the property will likely remain secret, as Apple has gone to great lengths to keep the true operation of the facility a secret, even going so far as to build 10 foot security fences around the buildings Apple occupies.
