Apple hired Stanford Digital Officer Dr. Sumbul Desai who has recently joined Apple’s health team, Dr. Desai has also worked along with Apple on the Apple Watch in the health field.

Dr. Sumbul Desai M.D. is a clinical associate professor of medicine at Stanford Medicine’s center for digital health. It’s not quite clear exactly what her new job description is, she could be assisting Apple’s health team working on products in the ResearchKit, HealthKit, or CareKit. At this time it seems Dr. Desai will still continue to see patients at Stanford.

Dr. Desai will fit perfectly in the digital world of health at Apple, she created Stanford’s first virtual primary care clinic called “ClickWell Care” which is a telemedicine project. It seems Apple would like to become more involved in using its apps and electronic devices more toward improving health wellness programs. Apple’s medical team also seems to be growing rapidly, in the past year or so, Apple has added a few more medical experts to its medical team.

Talk has it that Apple could be working on a non-invasive blood glucose monitoring system, which could be an add-on Watch band for the Apple Watch.
