While many people are captivated by the beauty of Apple’s new campus called Apple Park, it seems as if some of the employees who have started working there aren’t pleased with the layout of the campus.
Apple teamed up with Foster + Partners to create an open floor plan so its employees can work together at large tables rather than having the traditional cubicles or offices, Apple motivates behind the design was to foster collaboration between teams. However, the host of Daring Fireball’s “The Talk Show” John Gruber says that Apple’s Vice President of Hardware Technologies, Jony Srouji, complained when he saw the plans for the work area and went on a swearing rant. Srouji was so upset with the layout that he and his team were built a separate building off the side of the campus.
One of the biggest complaints employees have about the design is the lack of privacy, some of the employees feel it’s too distracting. “They don’t want to be looking up from their screen every time someone walks by their desk,” Gruber said.
However, Srouji and his team aren’t the only ones that will have their own working space, Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue and his team will have their own off-campus at Infinite Loop, while Tim Cook and other executives will have private offices on the fourth floor of Apple Park.
Even though there are a few employees working there, Apple plans to have over 12,000 employees at Apple Park by the end of this year.
In the meantime, if you’re curious about how the new campus looks on the inside, many employees are uploading photos and videos on Snapchat. All you have to do is open Snapchat and type Apple Park in the search bar.
