The Beatles Hit Apple Music and Other Streaming Services on Christmas Eve

Re/code:

The world’s most famous band will finally be available on streaming music services, starting this Thursday, Christmas Eve. And they’ll be available very, very widely: Industry sources say that the Fab Four’s music will be on all of the obvious music services, including Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play and Tidal, as well as some you might not expect, including Amazon’s Prime Music.

You may have noticed Pandora is missing from the list. Pandora doesn’t do direct deals with music owners. however, the music service does offer a number of tunes from the Fab Four via its streaming music service. Music services offering free tiers will offer the Lads from Liverpool’s catalog of tunes via the freebie option. At this point, we’re not sure if that means Beatles tunes will be played on Beats One Radio.

For years, rights holders of the bands music fought against releasing John, Paul, George, and Ringo’s tunes digitally, finally relenting and releasing the boy’s catalog of tunes via iTunes in 2010. Earlier this month, Apple scored an exclusive by offering a Beatles exclusive video collectionThe Beatles: 1+ Music Video Collection includes remastered versions of the band’s most popular singles, along with a collection of “mini-movies” the quartet made to promote the songs.
