Apple’s New iPhone 7 Photography Tutorial Videos Feature Photo’s ‘Memories’ Feature

Apple has added two new iPhone 7 photography tutorial videos on its photography website and YouTube channel. The new tutorials feature the “Memories” functionality in the Photos app.

The new videos, aimed at new users of the iPhone, guide users through customizing Memories in the Photos app on their iPhone, and then how to share them on social networks. The 40 second videos offer step-by-step instructions on how to complete each task.

Apple’s iPhone 7 photography tutorials are simple and to the point, targeting new iPhone users who are likely unfamiliar with the photo-taking and editing capabilities of their device. The first Memories tutorial offered information on how to play Memories movies automatically by selecting the Memories tab in the Photos app.

The new videos join the list of videos offering tutorials on the iPhone 7 and its photo taking and editing capabilities that Apple began posting in May of this year.

Apple Shares Two New Tutorials for Memories Feature in Photos App

Since May, Apple has been sharing a series of iPhone 7 photography tutorial videos both on a dedicated photography how-to website and its YouTube channel, and today, there are two new tutorial videos, this time featuring the Memories function in Photos.

The two new videos walk users through customizing Memories in the Photos app and then sharing Memories on social networks. Each video is 40 seconds in length and includes quick step-by-step visual instructions.

Apple first started highlighting the Memories feature in both a full-length iPhone 7 ad and its first Memories tutorial video, both of which were released yesterday.

Many of Apple's photography tutorials are simple and are aimed at users who are not familiar with the photo taking capabilities of their iPhones. Topics covered include how to shoot a close-up, how to shoot a vertical panorama, how to shoot a selfie with a timer, and how to shoot without a flash. Some also include general photography tips and cover topics like portraits, unique angles, street light, action, and more.

Improve your iPhone’s low light camera focusing with Torch on Focus

Torch on Focus is a new free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer Guy Kaplan that improves your iPhone photography in low-light conditions, which make it more difficult to focus on your subject.

The tweak manages this by turning on the LED flash on the back of your iPhone from the moment you begin to focus on an object with your camera, so your focusing never skips a beat.... Read the rest of this post here

Apple’s latest ‘Shot on iPhone’ ad features powerful narration by famous cosmologist Carl Sagan

Apple on Thursday via its official YouTube channel shared a new commercial as part of its ongoing “Shot on iPhone” campaign. Titled “Earth”, the video is narrated by late Carl Sagan who reads a poignant excerpt from his 1994 book.

It’s a beautiful tribute to Earth following the US exit from the Paris accord.

The ad aired in front of a big TV audience watching the NBA finals, said AdWeek. The chosen passages from Sagan’s book are set to videos of natural landscapes, shot by everyday Apple users on their iPhones.

Here are Sagan’s words, culled from a longer passage in the book:

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is no where else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate.

Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand. It underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another and to preserve and cherish the only home we’ve ever known.

And here is the spot.

“Our only home. Shot on iPhone through the lens of everyday users,” says Apple.

The video’s description is accompanied by the hashtags #OurOnlyHome and #ShotoniPhone.

As mentioned, the narration is from Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan’s book, titled “Pale Blue Dot — A Vision of the Human Future in Space,” available on iBooks Store for $14.99.

How do you like Apple’s subtle dig at climate change deniers?
