iOS 9's growth continues, as a growing number of people either download the update or purchase new devices with the OS pre-installed. Adoption of iOS 9 now sits at 70%. Compared to the previous iOS cycle, iOS 9 is doing quite well, as it took iOS 8 until 2015 to hit similar adoption rates.
Exactly one year ago, iOS 8 stood at 63% adoption, while now that number is down to 22%. Older versions of Apple's mobile operating system, which include iOS 7 and earlier, now hold 8%.
In the month between measurements, Apple launched a brand new iOS device, the iPad Pro. Earlier this week, they also launched the second major update for iOS 9 since its September launch, iOS 9.2, which added a number of improvements and fixes for various aspects of the system.
