If you’re an Apple Watch fan, you may be glad to know that the next-gen Apple Watch will have an LTE modem.
That’s right, Bloomberg is reporting that the new smartwatch will be able to connect to LTE mobile networks which means users will no longer have to have the iPhone nearby to receive notifications or make phone calls.
According to the report, Apple has started talking with providers in the US and Europe about offering the Watch later this year. Moreover, it is said that Intel will be making the LTE modem for the Apple Watch rather than Qualcomm.
While the report doesn’t talk about if Apple will update the design of the smartwatch, Apple blogger John Gruber at Daring Fireball says that an unconfirmed source informed him that there will be an “all-new form factor” this year.
The device is expected to be unveiled this year at Apple’s September event where the company is speculated to unveil the highly anticipated iPhone 8, iPhone 7s, and iPhone 7s Plus.
