The Sacramento Business Journal recently reported that Apple is investing at least $13 million in a new project. According to the source, Apple will convert its 134,000-square-foot warehouse into a logistic center. 

While the exact operation of Apple’s transformed Elk Grove campus has yet to be disclosed, the company’s plans hold provisions for amenities similar to those offered by high-tech firms. In addition, the report notes work on a message and exercise rooms a yoga studio, dental and medical facilities, and more.

According to the report, Elk Grove’s economic development director Darrell Doan had noted that Apple pulled permits to add 1,450 parking spaces to its existing allotment, a sign that an expansion is imminent. It is estimated that 2,500 employees will be working on the site.

Looking over to Apple’s huge Campus 2, the company is preparing for an inevitable influx of road traffic caused by employee commuters. The source notes city officials saying that Apple is in talks with Sacramento’s transportation department over potential bus line extensions.

Lastly, as of 2011, Apple had three warehouses totaling 450,000 square feet at its Elk Grove property, split between receiving, warehouse and logistics. The main campus is also speculated to house a call center.
